The need of the hour is not only the improvements in prevailing heart care remedies and surgical methods but also to outspread preventive strategies such as improved life style, nutritious and healthy food, corporate health protection initiatives, weight/hypertension/stress management and diabetes-care to full effect.

In the direction of addressing the issue of rising young heart attacks, urban India has made considerable progress in delivering high quality diagnostics labs, equipment and interventional cardiac care. However, this level of care is available only to a select few – those who can access and afford it. There is a need to focus on prevention and early diagnosis. The solution to this problem does not lie with the healthcare providers alone. There is an urgent need for the Government, researchers, educational institutions, employers, food and beverage industry, and wellness and fitness players to take up the challenge and work towards behaviour and lifestyle changes through positive and negative reinforcements.

On this World Heart Day, The Economic Times presents to you HeartTalk! The Heart Conference ’18 – a knowledge colloquium which brings together all the potential stakeholders in this arena and discuss the way forward.
