ENABLING A POSITIVE CHANGE
27 & 28 September 2018 | Ramada, Powai - Mumbai

THE ECONOMIC TIMES ENABLING A POSITIVE CHANGE

The Plant Head's job is possibly one of the most challenging jobs in the manufacturing sector. It is where the board room meets the shop floor! And when the market is going through a tough time, the job becomes tough.

As a plant life cycle moves from the planning, engineering and start-up phases and onto the operation and maintenance phases, the focus turns to keeping the plant operational at optimal performance at lowest possible costs.

The Economic Times has always been at the forefront of helping organizations and professionals gather insight on how to deal with critical business issues. Over the years, it has helped growing companies proactively lead the transformational charge and has equipped them with the latest

information on market advancements as well as critical insights into managing existing ecosystems. Thus, The Economic Times is pleased to announce the 1st edition of The Economic Times Plant Leadership Summit, scheduled for September 27-28, 2018.

This summit is designed specifically for PLANT LEADERS across sectors and will foster the discussions around the challenges they face from planning to final execution on ground, issues they face with regards to plant, people, process and technology to achieve operational excellence and to build the plants of future.

MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY IN INDIA

With its GDP measuring $2.3 trillion, India is the world's 9th-largest economy and the third largest by purchasing power parity at $8 trillion. Yet manufacturing accounts for only 16% of the country's GDP. India represents only 2% of the world's manufacturing output, a tenth of what our neighbour China contributes. Clearly, India is punching below its weight in manufacturing.

Growth in manufacturing is crucial for India's economic development. It can create one million jobs per month over the next decade, fuelling large-scale employment for Indian youth, thereby enabling a significant section of the population to move out of poverty. Realising the importance of manufacturing and to further encourage & accelerate growth of this sector, many initiatives like 'MAKE IN INDIA' are being taken up by the current government to foster its growth.
