An Apple a day… We have been raised to believe in that!

However, today we prefer to pursue a different kind of ‘Apple’. In that pursuit, our doctor becomes our best friend, confidante and adviser.

Doctor’s Day is celebrated on 1st July from the year 1991 to honour Dr B.C. Roy, who was friend, confidante and a doctor to Mahatma Gandhi. He was felicitated with the Bharat Ratna Award on 4th February 1961.

Doctors, are often given a god-like status in our country and that’s with good reason. Most of us have had some family member brought back from a serious illness or sometimes even from death’s door. Doctor’s Day is precisely meant to celebrate and recognize this paradigm.

Not just doctors, the day is also meant to commemorate the medical industry and its advancements. Doctors’ efforts in bettering people’s lives has been relentless and this day marks those accomplishments.

The last edition witnessed participation from over 200 plus doctors, many of whom were BC Roy Awardees, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan Winners across 6 categories.

This year, The Economic Times has chosen this special day to launch the 2nd edition of “The Economic Times – Doctors Day Conclave 2019”, in New Delhi at The Hyatt Regency.
